The A40 Western Avenue and the A4 are red routes, so a car that stops on either needs to reach a side street first. We never work on the carriageway of a motorway or main road, on a hard shoulder, in a smart motorway emergency area or on a slip road.
At Hillingdon, Harefield or Mount Vernon hospital, Brunel University London or Stockley Park, ask the site whether the fitter may work there before you ring.
- The area is inside the London-wide Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ), in force since 29 August 2023: a charge for driving a vehicle that does not meet its emission standards, not for a parked car.
- If the car is in a controlled parking zone permit bay, tell us so the fitter can park legally beside it.
- We cannot stop or work on a red route; the car needs to be on a side street or private ground first.
Station, retail park and industrial estate car parks are private land. The fitter can work there only if the owner or operator allows it, so check the signs or ask first. A driveway or a quiet, well lit residential street is usually the easiest place for the work.
