Drives and residential streets in Tithe Farm, Parkside, Bidwell, Thorn and Linmere give the fitter level ground beside the car. A lit street with room on the side of the flat tyre is best after dark.
Bedford Square shopping centre, the leisure centre, Houghton Hall Business Park, White Lion Retail Park and the North Luton Industrial Estate are private sites. The owner has to allow the work, and a car park that is locked at night stops the job, so tell us where the car is.
We never work on a motorway carriageway, hard shoulder or slip road, and the A5505 Woodside Link and the A5 are main roads where the car has to be off the carriageway too. If the car can be moved slowly and safely, turn into the first side road you reach and stop there.
If the puncture cannot be repaired, the same visit can fit a new tyre where the size allows.
Station, retail park and industrial estate car parks are private land. The fitter can work there only if the owner or operator allows it, so check the signs or ask first. A driveway or a quiet, well lit residential street is usually the easiest place for the work.
